Fitness & Fashion

"Workout Attire"

We live in a society where working out, being healthy, and living healthy lifestyles is no longer a trend, it is actually a must. Family and friends celebrate weight loss successors.  It is no longer acceptable to be unhealthy and obese with no plans to do something about it.  You will not win any brownie points.  With social media at an all-time high, more and more fitness gurus and everyday people are sharing and posting pictures of their exercise routines, tips, and meals. People even check themselves in to let their social media followers know that they're at the gym.

Let's talk about the fashion trends and styles that go along with exercising.  What is acceptable to wear to the gym or fitness facility versus exercising at your own home?  I say, whatever makes you comfortable and whatever makes you feel good about yourself is absolutely acceptable.  One disclaimer:  if you're going to a public facility you may want to be careful about wearing anything that's too revealing, unless you are there for a different purpose other than getting fit.  For obvious safety reasons, I would make sure the attire is appropriate.

I've noticed that when I work out, if I'm wearing something really cute or playful, I tend to be more motivated and I have a better workout.  It's something about how you look and feel in your clothing that makes your confidence level go from 5 to 10 instantly.  The clothes you work out in don't have to be labels or expensive items.  I usually purchase pieces that are very affordable from Marshall's, Target, or TJ Maxx.  The more colorful the outfit is, the more pumped and motivated I am about my workout.  I challenge you to post a picture of yourself at the gym or a before or after workout picture to your social media forum; watch the "likes," and comments you receive.

Today's Look

Movie Date

After church today, I went on a movie date with my husband and friends.  When we get together it's always a good time.  We saw the Wedding Ringer starring Kevin Hart; hilarious movie.

My Favorite Color Combination

Winter Looks

I don't know about you, but I definitely have a favorite color and a favorite color combination.  I absolutely love how the colors, red, white, and black come together.  For me, the black represents elegance, the white is purity, and the red is that extra pop that brings all the colors together.  It's kinda like the icing on the cake.  Here are some examples of how I paired my favorite color combination in 2 outfits.  I am also sharing how I decorated 2 rooms in my home with the same color combo; my dining room and a guest room.  What are your favorite color combos? Leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you.

Simple Black Dress

I have yet to meet a woman who doesn't love to shop. I not only love to shop but I enjoy the overall experience of finding unique pieces at bargain prices, then later getting home to put them together to compose a variety of looks. Yes, you guessed it; fashion is an art to me. It's more than just shopping and spending money; it's the experience. Some refer to it as "Retail Therapy." The only difference for me is; I never want to enter Rehab, lol!!!

Let's take the phrase "Simple Black Dress," according to fashion experts, every woman should own one. Allow me to show you how you can take a "Simple Black Dress" to another level by adding colorful accessories, or a color blazer that will have you standing out from the crowd:

                                                 "The Simple Black Dress"
Look #1 I added a blazer and a colorful statement neck piece
with a magazine clutch. Can be worn for work or play.

You can add color to give your look added flavor!!

Look #2- I added a pop of red with the fringe satement neck piece
                         and a red clutch.

By adding a splash of color and the right accessories; you
can take a simple black dress from simple to fabulous!!

Hair Products I Love

I, like so many other naturals was a "Product Junkie" during my transitioning phase. I tried any and everything someone would suggest to me; especially if I thought we had similar hair textures. I quickly learned after spending hundreds of dollars that:

#1. My hair has more than one texture and I still can't tell you the type.

#2. What works for your hair may not work for mine and vice versa.

With that being said after trying lots of products and giving lots of products away, I think I have finally found some staple products that work best for my hair. Don't get me wrong, I will still occasionally try new products, just because!!!

Here are my staple products:

I use the LOC Method when using these products to help my hair maintain moisture.

L= Liquid (water in spray bottle) O= Oil (olive oil or coconut oil) C= Cream (Curl enhancing smoothie cream)

My must-have for daily moisture.
I add this to my water bottle for shine &
I love the smell.

My Primary Leave-In Conditioner.

My Primary Cleanser; "Co-wash."

My 2nd choice cleanser
My extra moisturizing deep conditioner.

My must-have for oil and to seal my ends at night.

My faithful alcohol-free gel to hold my buns.

My shampoo of choice & 2nd choice leave-in conditioner.

Me & My Bun

I absolutely love natural hair; but more than that I love a gorgeous bun. It doesn't matter if it's curly, smooth, or messy; and the bigger the better!!!

Sometimes I spend hours trying new hairstyles that don't always work out; I don't call it a "Bad Hair Day," I call it a "Bun Day." When all else fails my bun never lets me down, lol.

Here are some pictures of my buns, which always seem to save the day:

My goal is to inspire and motivate women of all ages to be confident in their own skin. I want to share my fashion ideas and healthy hair journey in hopes of inspiring others.
